1-1/2 cups flour
2 tablespoons butter
1-1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup milk
1/3 cup water
1 ounce (1/2 packet) yeast
1 egg (small)
Combine the flour sugar and salt. Melt the butter and add to the milk and water.
Cool a bit until lukewarm. Add the yeast. Add the liquid mixture slowly to the
dry, alternating additions of liquid with the additional of the egg. Drizzle
some water on the work surface and your hands.
Turn the dough out and knead until elastic and smooth. Place
in a bowl and cover with a towel. Let it rise for 45 minutes.
Place dough in a lightly greased bread pan and let rise for
another 20 minutes.
Bake in a 425 degree oven for 45 minutes. Cool in pan for 5
minutes and then remove to a wire rack to completely cool.
